In Life’s Journey
One should not be removed from the idea of offering encouragement to others around us to grow and prosper, it is mutual assurance to prosperity. The people who hinders growth the most are those who do not see growth in themselves or though a mindless disposition will be envious of the growth of others. Through our encouragement,we must not always expect an immediate response because those who tend to take a long time to change will be more determined to maintain that change. It feels so rewarding after years of persuasion that an individual see the wisdom of a suggestion and embark on its direction
The energy gained by surrounding yourself with positive people cannot be underscored as is the reverse of negativity of the naysayers and pessimists. Surround yourself with people who encourage growth and cooperation to produce effective change.
Shallow thinking is a bane of this world.
Act of Service
The act of service to others defines our own humanity. We are all dependent on each other. The selfishness which is the trademark of many is counter productive to the development of society. We must all look into ourselves and question our motives towards others, are we there at their service of others or purely for self?
There is a misconception that collective thinking loses individualism, we have to change that notion to offer the next generation a brighter future.
There is a mentality that has been expounded and executed in our society that once we take care of our well being we have fulfilled the obligation to ourselves but what it didn’t do was to also impart the relevant message that our inter-dependency and welfare is also intransigently linked. The notion of individualism and survival is almost instinctive but for the functioning of society we have to pool our individual assets to maximise the benefits to the general public.and get well run communities.
I find it strange all these professionals offer suggestions but have conveniently or extraordinarily missed the main essence on our acceptance of violence as a direct post traumatic slave disorder we all need therapy on. Until reparation takes place these deep rooted problems will remain, the professor has rightly identified a mental illness but it is not limited to the felons in our society but by the majority of the masses who do not know or are detached from their culture and are constantly mired in an identity crisis. Marcus Garvey paved a way but it has been submerged in a neo colonial mentality
Music and Freedom
While we often look at the motive of a messenger it is more important to listen to the message which is being carried. Whatever free society we reside in, there is no absolute freedom as they all fall within legal constraints. I have listen to dancehall music as its part of our culture but contained within some lyrics is incitement to murder, extortion, and advocacy to dysfunctional civil behaviour. Incitement to murder is a criminal offence, when this is disguised as “artistic expression” we will be eventually have our freedom curtail by the fear of the gun. I sincerely hope those who in many cases have banned these type of music from their homes in order to protect their family from this decadency would have the good will to see the “Jamaican family” not exposed to it on an arbitrary basis by giving it credibility by playing and promoting this type of music on national airways.
Remember in a world which is portrayed as one of doom and gloom, you have a right to find happiness within it, so share your joys and hopes of others so that the first rays of hope maybe rekindled.
What people don’t understand there is a method we all use for solving problems,
political parties are the same, we must allow others to have different views to reach
a middle ground.
Health and Wellness
I have heard some ridiculous advice given by health professionals over the years and somehow they get unchallenged, one such idea recently was the 5 fruits a day. While I do not take away some possible health benefits what it does not do is it takes in consideration the evolutionary pattern of our species. I will ask this question, where on earth has there been five fruits readily available to humans in their locality to access these fruit? In most environment you will find quite a number of fruits ripening but to say that they were readily available and consumed by humans on a daily basis could not be further from reality.
Today I woke up and it is being challenged by another health professional and definitely not a second too late. We are fed all sorts of fad diets but one thing which remains true; too much of one thing is good for nothing and the reverse is also true, eat as varied as you can and always remember the human body was designed much more as a herbivore than a carnivore so keep your digestive system free flowing with fruits, vegetables and fibres so that your body is not clogged up with toxins.
I have changed my diet considerably as I get older and any meat cooked is accompanied with a substantial amount of vegetables, eat well , stay healthy and let your system exhale.
Erosion of Freedom and liberty through internet.
How many of you are aware that we are giving away our civil liberty and privacy and our government is fully supporting this. While info technology has become an integral feature of our lives , are you aware that in your eagerness to use this technology we are giving away chunks of information which we should have the option of keeping private? We are now caught between the rock and a hard place because the government who should be defending our rights are co-conspirators with info-tech companies who harvest your information on an arbitrary and totally unjustifiable way only benefiting their purpose and not yours. Many of these contracts which we enter with our providers is nothing short of being held over the barrel and in the protection of civil liberties not one iota of consideration has been done to protect you in a fair deal. One should be aware that our government will not protect your right because its the whole erosion of this right they are able to harvest data on us by using divisive means. We are powerless and at times ignorant of the capabilities of modern phones to take details of people not remotely connected to you and vice versa and make it available to people you would not wish to get hold of this info. While this is happening we are in a hopeless position to change things , because the horse has already bolted. The governments are losing their moral compass in protecting you the citizen in agreeing contracts because in their interest to use harvested data on you , they turn a blind eye and we are losing areas of freedom and liberty which should be protected by them, being aware is the start of getting your freedom back, we need to lobby our representatives in enacting laws to remedy this unfair relationship, don’t take freedom for granted, apathy will soon allow you to lose it.
